…is that we rarely work alone. We don’t need to be strong in everything, we just need to be honest about what our weaknesses are and work with people that counterbalance them.
For many situations I agree with this. In an actual work environment, you have separate teams to fulfill one goal, covering other weaknesses. On a sports team, you have those who can throw and can’t catch, those who can catch but can’t throw, etc. I do, however, disagree that this can be your attitude towards weaknesses in all cases. Sometimes you have to go through things alone. You have to find the strength inside you when you feel weak. You can’t sit around hoping someone will cover your back, you gotta get out there and do it yourself. In cases where someone can, the right people will. But, unfortunately, you cant always depend on that.
“I do, however, disagree that this can be your attitude towards weaknesses in all cases”. I completely agree =). I think my real point is: “We don’t need to be strong in everything”.
There is a difference between “your strengths” and “being strong enough to go it alone”. They’re different conceptions, one of distinct strengths and one as strength as a whole entity. You can be strong while still having weaknesses.
